THE CHURCH IS THE PILLAR AND FOUNDATION OF TRUTH

By Bro. Manny, OTFS Chief Apologist

In 1 Timothy 3:15, St. Paul said, "If I am delayed, you will know how people ought to conduct themselves in God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth." This is a very powerful testament to the role of the Church in our salvation and therefore it is upon us to be inside the church not outside.

If truth is in the church anyone who tries to destroy the church is a destroyer of truth and is against the truth who is Christ. So if anyone will say he believes and follows Jesus but is against the church, he is a liar and there is no truth in him. For Jesus is the truth and he and the church are one thus anyone who refuses the church refuses Jesus. And when you refuse Jesus, you refuse your salvation, you remain dead in your sin. And so if anyone teach others against the church, he is teaching them to sin against the Holy Spirit which is a sin that can't be forgiven. And so they are already condemned.

Now the same Apostle Paul has taught us in Ephesian 4:5 that there is only One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism. Therefore it follows that there is only one church and that one church can't be destroyed because the same church is the kingdom of God on earth which was promised to us. The kingdom is to be established by God himself. This church is the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church which has become a real kingdom.

In fulfillment of the prophecy of Daniel, the Catholic Church is indeed a kingdom of God on earth. Its an offshoot of David's kingdom but this time its messianic because it is meant to save the people of God, those who believed and are baptized are accepted into the kingdom where they are sustained and made perfect. It's King is Jesus Christ who has taken his throne at the right hand of the Father where he Rules the church through the Holy Spirit, the Advocate, who continues to guide and counsel the church the visible head of his church, the Pope.

The Pope is called the Vicar of Christ which means he is the deputy of the King that rules in effect he is the Servant of the servants. He does not possess the church nor its wealth which is used to run the physical realm of the kingdom which is its city, the Vatican City where the kingdom stretches out to the world "Urbi et Orbi" to the Vatican and to the world. Like any kingdom, it has a government, canon laws, ecclesiastical hierarchy composed of the Cardinal called Princes of the Catholic Church and Bishops who are successors of the office of the Apostles and they govern and administer the kingdom sustaining the citizens of the kingdom until the King comes again as promised unto the end of age.
